Program crashes during laptop hibernation

On some laptops, running the program on a laptop computer and allowing the laptop to go into hibernation mode results in the program crashing when the laptop resumes.

Solution:
If you are using the program on a laptop, please temporarily disable hibernation mode. If this problem does occur, it will not harm your system.

Why doesn't my Windows Xp Professional have the options to standby or hibernate? How can I make it standby or hibernate, do I need to install something? I already tried going through the power options, but it is still not there.
