How does the program work?
Phonics is a method of teaching reading and spelling in which children are taught the sounds that letters and letter patterns make. The last several decades of research have provided conclusive evidence that a phonics based approach to teaching children how to read and spell leads to the greatest improvements in literacy skills. Unfortunately, teaching children phonics can be challenging since there is no direct relationship between the way that letters look and the sounds they make. Furthermore, around 10% of English words do not follow typical letter-sound patterns (for more information about how children learn to read, please click HERE).
